We all grew up watching WWE and now we will have access to their branded snacks backed by rapper AKA. The “Fela in Versace” hitmaker took to the "Power Lunch" show on CNBC Africa on Tuesday to announce that he has officially signed a distribution contract. AKA will be working alongside the Chief Executive Officer of Chilewe Brands Global, Mike Chilewe, to bring the WWE branded snacks to the African continent.
During the interview they shared the news of their new listing deal with the WWE, elaborated on the process it took for them to get the license and explained why they decided to partner up for the new business venture.
AKA will be responsible for the brand and marketing management of the product which comes as no surprise due to his large influence and Megacy support base. Chilewe Brands Global will be handling the distribution and production side of the products.
When asked what attracted him to bringing in WWE snacks to the continent the rapper said: "I'm a big wrestling fan and it's always been a big part of my childhood. So, when an opportunity like this comes around I really jumped at it."
The two are clearly on the same page as Mike shared that AKA was the first person who came to mind when he was looking for someone to partner up with.
This is not the first time that the rapper has branched into the business world in 2018 he had to close the doors to a company he had started Prince Nyembe called Beam Group. It’s great to see him branching out into business again.
