Super Mega Does It Again!

Jul 10, 2019, 01:40 PM

It's been a great year for the Super Mega! First, he had his own Comedy Central Roast earlier this year. Then Touch My Blood went platinum and he was nominated yet again for a BET Award out in the US.

Although he lost to former collaborator Burna Boy, he's still riding high on his most unexpected win of the year - winning back DJ Zinhle! No matter what he's done this year, fans are all tied up in watching their second chance at love blossom all over their social media feeds.

But his wins just keep on coming this year with yet another Platinum certification!

AKA's sophomore album, Levels has been certified 7x times platinum! The 2014 release is lowkey a compilation of some of the rapper's biggest hits, including continental hit "All Eyes On Me, and the iconic jam "Jealousy." Levels also includes an All-Star roster of collaborations MiCasa's J'Something, Burna Boy, Da L.E.S and many more major names.

Platinum is equivalent to 30,000 album copies sold in South Africa. This means that according to RiSA standards, AKA has moved at least a whopping 210,000 copies of Levels! Not only that but AKA has also reportedly amassed over 11.9 million video views and 28 million combined streams from this album alone.

As if AKA wasn't already a certified legend, this latest certification confirms it.  Levels is only the second South African hip-hop album to reach the 7x times platinum milestone. This is after only Kwesta's iconic 2016 double album DaKAR II was certified last year. This also makes AKA one of the country's best selling hip-hop artists in history, alongside Kwesta, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, K.O., Skwatta Kamp, HHP and a few others.
