Nasty C, Nadia Nakai And Sjava Win Big At AFRIMA 2019

This past weekend the continent was celebrating the 6th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) at the Eko Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.

The awards were established in 2014, to reward and promote distinct African music worldwide, engaging millions of fans by propelling African music to glorious pinnacles beyond the borders of Africa while celebrating its heritage. The 36-category ceremony is divided into continental and regional awards.

 

NASTY C
The Zulu Man With Some Power rewrote the history books in September when he  become the first-ever South African artist to be nominated for a BET Hip Hop Award. Although he did not win the Award, he won the hearts of many South Africans and Africans at large. Along with all his accolades, the 22-year-old bagged the Best African Rapper/Lyricist Award and the Best African Collaboration award for SMA with vocalist Rowlene.


NADIA NAKAI
Bragga continued where she left off last week when she won an SA Hip-Hop Award for best female. One cannot dispute that the Family Tree first lady is having an incredible year. She scooped the Best Female Artiste Southern Africa Award as well as the Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Hip Hop award.


SJAVA
The Umama singer has had an incredible year and is still winning big. He took to instagram to share a video of his acceptance speech at the award ceremony where he was proudly wearing his traditional Zulu attire. He took home the Best Male Artist in Southern Africa award.
