Muzi and Thandiswa are on the lineup

It's an exciting time for South African music lovers after two of our favourite stars were named on the lineup for the upcoming AFROPUNK Brooklyn music festival.

Thandiswa Mazwai and Muzi will be jetting off to the USA where they will be performing for an international audience in August 2019. You'll recall that in 2018 we had some strong #AFROPUNKBrooklyn representation when Nandi Madida hosted the prestigious concert series, while Sho Madjozi and Nakhane were both listed as performers.

The SA/US love-in continues in 2019 after it was confirmed that Thandiswa and Muzi would be on this year's lineup. The organisers shared the full lineup on social media on Wednesday afternoon and it featured the likes of Goldlink, FKA Twiigs, Jill Scott and many more of the world's most exciting performers.

Thandiswa needs no introduction as one of South Africa's most gifted vocalists in modern history (considering that "modern history" includes Brenda Fassie and Miriam Makeba, we don't need to tell you just how talented this songbird is!) and is one of our strongest living performers.

She was also on the lineup for the 2018 #AFROPUNKJohannesburg festival which took place on New Year's Eve.

Muzi is a relative newcomer to the South African music scene, having grown in popularity and following over the last 24 months. However, he has carved himself a strong fanbase and will be looking to take his unique sound to the States this "summer" (it will be winter for us!)

For our international readers, here's a taste of what you can expect when King Tha comes to the Big Apple:
