Several petrol retailers in Abuja and nearby areas have cut pump prices as competition intensifies across Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market. AA Rano, Ranoil and other stations are now selling petrol at N1,400 per litre, down from N1,420, representing a N20 reduction.
The move follows price cuts by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), MRS and Geregu outlets, which lowered their rates in Abuja to N1,370 per litre. With the latest adjustments, petrol prices across Abuja and surrounding areas now range from N1,370 to N1,430 per litre.
The retail reductions were set in motion after Dangote Refinery cut its gantry price for petrol by N25 per litre more than a week ago, bringing it to N1,325. The reduction prompted a series of pump-price cuts at filling stations in different parts of Nigeria. Industrial data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority showed that Dangote Refinery supplied most of the country’s domestically produced petrol in August 2026.
