All Progressives Grand Alliance national chairman Sly Ezeokenwa has defended Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s participation in President Bola Tinubu’s campaign activities, saying the decision reflects regional economic and political priorities rather than disloyalty to APGA.
In a Saturday interview on Arise Television, Ezeokenwa said Soludo’s backing for Tinubu should not be interpreted through the narrow lens of party competition. Instead, he said, the governor is seeking to advance Igbo interests and support Nigeria’s broader development agenda.
“Governor Soludo believes in working with the Federal Government to attract development to Anambra State and the South-East,” Ezeokenwa said.
He argued that Soludo is pursuing a calculated political approach intended to prevent Ndigbo from being sidelined in national decision-making. Engagement with the federal authorities, he said, can help secure development opportunities for Anambra and the wider South-East.
Ezeokenwa stressed that APGA remains an independent political party, while maintaining that it will work with the Federal Government where such cooperation benefits citizens. He said Soludo’s involvement was aimed at protecting the interests of Anambra State and the South-East region.
