Abimbola Adekanmbi, the Allied Peoples Movement’s candidate for Oyo State governor in the 2027 elections, has called on Senator Sharafadeen Alli of the All Progressives Congress to disclose his record of accomplishments in the National Assembly.
Adekanmbi made the demand in a statement issued by Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, co-director for media and publicity at the Oyo State APM Campaign Council, known as OYSACC. The statement was released on Saturday.
Quick facts
- Abimbola Adekanmbi is seeking the Oyo State governorship under the APM banner in 2027.
- He challenged APC counterpart Senator Sharafadeen Alli to publish his Senate achievements.
- Adekanmbi argued that candidates for higher office should demonstrate results in their present roles.
- He said the governorship should be won through competence rather than political seniority or past positions.
The APM candidate said Alli’s performance in the National Assembly had fallen short of expectations. He argued that public officials pursuing greater responsibilities must first show that they have delivered effectively in the positions they already hold.
Political advancement, Adekanmbi said, should rest on measurable performance rather than the length of a politician’s career. He said Oyo voters would not elevate what he described as Alli’s poor Senate record to the governorship at Agodi Government House.
The governorship, he added, should not be handed out because of political history, but should be secured through demonstrated ability. Adekanmbi again urged Alli to make a full account of his work as a senator available to the public.
“The people of Oyo State deserve leaders who can defend their ambitions with verifiable achievements, not politicians who expect past titles to substitute for present performance,” Adekanmbi said.
