Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, executive secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency, was killed alongside four of his children in a road crash at Yalwan Duguri in Bauchi State’s Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The collision took place on Saturday evening. The children who died were named as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam. Another of Duguri’s sons, Suleiman, survived and is receiving wishes for a full recovery.
Governor Bala Mohammed said the deaths represented an immense loss for Bauchi State, describing Duguri as a committed public official whose work helped widen access to health services, especially for disadvantaged communities.
As head of BASHCMA, Duguri was credited with helping develop the state’s contributory healthcare management programme. The governor also highlighted his work with medical teams serving pilgrims during Hajj operations in Saudi Arabia, where he assisted in delivering healthcare to those undertaking the pilgrimage.
Mohammed said the incident was especially distressing because Duguri had been both a respected government colleague and a close personal friend and classmate. He prayed that Allah would grant Duguri and his four children eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, while urging the public to offer the grieving family prayers and compassion.
Funeral prayers for Duguri and the four children were scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri.
