BUA Group Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu (CFR) has met with Salem Aljaberi, the United Arab Emirates’ consul general in Lagos, to discuss closer Nigeria-UAE relations and prospects for investment, commercial cooperation and strategic partnerships.
Rabiu welcomed the UAE representative and praised his work to strengthen links between the two countries. He described the visit to his office as an honour and said the discussions offered a valuable chance to assess emerging opportunities.
The businessman, often referred to as the king of commerce, expressed confidence that bilateral ties would continue to deepen and generate practical benefits for Nigeria and the UAE. He also conveyed his appreciation to Aljaberi for the visit and for his ongoing efforts to build connections between the two nations.
The meeting comes as BUA Group expands its role in Nigeria’s productive sectors. Founded by Rabiu, the conglomerate has significant operations in cement, food production, manufacturing, agriculture and infrastructure. Its companies employ workers and support broad networks of domestic suppliers and other businesses.
Two of its listed subsidiaries, BUA Cement and BUA Foods, have continued to post sizeable revenue and profit figures, highlighting the group’s contribution to industrial output and public-sector revenue. For Rabiu, however, the discussions extended beyond BUA’s own commercial priorities, pointing to wider opportunities created by closer economic ties between Nigeria and the UAE, including greater capital flows and business-to-business collaboration.
He said he hoped the bilateral relationship would become increasingly robust and produce measurable benefits for citizens and for both national economies.
