Dangote Refinery has lifted its nationwide gantry price for Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), or diesel, to N1,670 per litre from N1,570, following a rise in crude prices above $94.13 a barrel. A market check on Thursday indicated that the 700,000-barrel-a-day facility increased the charge by N100 per litre, equivalent to 6.4%. The refinery had not officially confirmed the adjustment at the time of reporting. Retail diesel prices in Abuja could therefore move above their current range of N1,700 to N1,790 per litre. On August 6, Dangote Refinery cut its gantry rates for diesel and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N1,570 and N1,165 per litre, respectively. Although the diesel rate has now risen, the facility’s gantry price for petrol remained unchanged at N1,165 per litre as of the reporting time. The latest change followed a 2% increase in Brent crude to $94.13 per barrel and a 3% gain in West Texas Intermediate (WTI) to $87.13, recorded at 2 p.m. on August 20, 2026.
