Dangote Refinery Raises PMS Gantry Price and Restarts Naira Fuel Sales

Dangote Refinery has raised its gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and, after a pause, restarted the sale of its refined petroleum products in naira, a move aimed at easing pressure on fuel traders and retail consumers.

Key takeaways

  • Dangote Refinery set a new PMS gantry price of N1,215 per litre in naira.
  • The price is up from N1,175 per litre, which had been in place before sales were halted on July 14, 2026.
  • Refined product sales were previously resumed in dollars to off-takers, contributing to downstream market uncertainty.
  • Following the latest change, petrol prices at retail have been reported in a range of N1,270 to N1,350 per litre around Abuja.

Refinery resumes naira sales with higher gantry price

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the refinery confirmed that marketers can once again purchase Premium Motor Spirit in local currency. The company said the 700,000-barrel-per-day facility has pegged the petrol gantry price at N1,215 per litre, compared with the prior rate of N1,175 per litre.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery said it has restarted the naira-based sale of PMS, describing the action as relief for marketers and consumers. It also reiterated that the gantry price is fixed at N1,215 per litre.

The revised figure reflects an increase of N40 per litre from the previous pricing level. The refinery had stopped selling refined products to the local market earlier, with sales suspended on July 14, 2026.

Earlier dollar sales sparked uncertainty; retail prices moved up

The company had previously resumed petroleum product deliveries to off-takers in dollars on July 14, 2026. That shift, according to the statement, created uncertainty across Nigeria’s downstream oil sector.

In the week leading up to the latest update, depot owners and marketers reportedly increased petrol prices at least twice, as participants sought to adjust to the changing terms of supply. As of now, retail fuel pricing is said to be between N1,270 and N1,350 per litre in Abuja and surrounding areas.
