Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged to deliver three million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Nigeria’s 2027 general election, promising that the state’s political machinery will work to secure the outcome.
What happened
- Speaking at an All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Saturday, Fubara told Tinubu that the state would provide three million votes in the next general election.
- “Rivers will give you three million votes. We will stand by you. We will work for you. We will deliver for you,” the governor said.
- He said Rivers State had firmly aligned itself behind the president and that its decision was final.
- Fubara said divisions that had marked Rivers politics were now over, adding that the state’s political leaders had begun speaking as one.
- That unified position, he said, was support for Tinubu.
- The governor said Tinubu had demonstrated goodwill toward Rivers State and that voters would return that support at the ballot box in 2027.
- “We are not merely making promises. Our votes will prove it,” he said, adding that Rivers residents understand the importance of honouring commitments.
- Fubara urged party supporters to return to their wards and polling units to begin organising, warning that the target of three million votes would not be achieved through inaction.
