Harry Kane said he was thrilled after being named the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner at Monday evening’s ceremony in London, adding another major individual honour to a season of extraordinary scoring for Bayern Munich and England.
The 33-year-old Bayern forward and England captain finished ahead of Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé, who took second place, while Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal was third.
“I am almost speechless,” Kane said after receiving the award. “Being here in London has made it special, so it felt like a good omen. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. Congratulations to all the winners.”
Kane thanked his teammates at Bayern Munich and with England, as well as England manager Thomas Tuchel and Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. He also acknowledged former club Tottenham Hotspur and others who have made an important contribution during his career.
The award followed an exceptional campaign in which Kane scored 73 goals and supplied eight assists across all competitions for club and country.
