A fire at a feed mill in Ibadan, the capital of Nigeria’s Oyo State, has destroyed goods and property valued at millions of naira, although no deaths were reported.
Factory store damaged
- The blaze broke out on Monday at a feed mill factory in the Podo area of Ibadan.
- It heavily damaged a prefabricated structure used as a storage facility at the plant, destroying stock and other items worth millions of naira.
- Firefighters contained the incident before it could spread to other buildings or operational facilities within the factory compound.
Maroof Akinwande, chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed that there were no casualties. He said emergency crews found the factory’s prefabricated store already badly affected when they reached the location.
Initial findings indicate that the fire may have resulted from a spontaneous chemical or material reaction involving substances used in the factory’s operations.
