Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, Fatima, have been released after being kidnapped from their home in Kaduna State. The family was freed on Thursday and was travelling back to Kaduna metropolis.
A retired security officer involved in efforts to obtain their release confirmed that the three victims were being taken home in a vehicle driven by his driver. The officer, who requested anonymity, said his team and several private individuals had worked to secure their freedom.
“They are heading home with my driver,” he said. “Their release resulted from the work of my team and some private citizens.”
Zakka, his wife and Fatima were seized on October 6, 2026, at their residence in Millennium City in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area. A video circulated online days later showing Zakka and his infant daughter being held captive, prompting broad public anger.
