Hassan Mohammed Maidamma has taken office as the 17th substantive commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kebbi State, pledging stronger intelligence work, professional standards and cooperation to address security risks.
Leadership Transition
- Maidamma formally assumed the position on Monday, October 26, succeeding Commandant K.A. Alkamawa, who retired from the role.
- The transfer of responsibilities was held at the NSCDC state command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
- In his valedictory remarks, Alkamawa expressed appreciation to the Corps’ Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Kebbi State Government and other security institutions for supporting his administration.
- He appealed to those institutions to offer Maidamma the same level of support during his tenure.
Operational Priorities
Maidamma thanked the national leadership of the NSCDC for entrusting him with the assignment and said he would work to strengthen the command’s delivery of services.
His administration will focus on professional conduct, stronger field operations, intelligence collection and closer engagement with sister security organisations and host communities, he said.
The incoming commandant restated the command’s responsibility to safeguard people and their property, protect critical national assets and infrastructure, coordinate disaster-management functions and regulate private security guard companies.
He also identified staff welfare, ongoing capacity building and improved operational performance as key priorities. Maidamma urged personnel to uphold discipline, remain alert, act professionally and comply with human-rights principles and the rule of law.
He called on Kebbi residents to share prompt, reliable information with security agencies, saying public cooperation would help deter criminal activity and reinforce security across the state.
