Man Utd Plan for Shaw Exit as Arsenal Take Hincapié Off Market

Manchester United are preparing for the possible departure of Luke Shaw, while Arsenal have changed course on Piero Hincapié before the January transfer window, with both developments likely to shape the clubs’ squad planning for 2027.

Arsenal rule out Hincapié sale

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano discussed the two situations with Francesco Porzio ahead of this weekend’s Premier League programme.

  • Romano said a proposed player-exchange arrangement involving Arsenal, Barcelona and Hincapié is not expected to go ahead.
  • He said Arsenal have no willingness to put Hincapié on the market.

“On Hincapié and a swap between Arsenal and Barcelona, I do not see it happening,” Romano said. “The explanation is straightforward: Arsenal have absolutely no desire to sell Hincapié.”

Romano also pointed to expected changes in Manchester United’s outgoing-player plans during 2027.

  • Luke Shaw is expected to be among the players leaving Old Trafford.
  • His departure is anticipated after the conclusion of the 2026-27 campaign.

“In the new year, 2027, there will also be developments involving departures, including Luke Shaw,” Romano said. “Luke Shaw is expected to be one of the players to leave Manchester United at the end of the 2026-27 season.”
