Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has set a new UEFA Champions League milestone, becoming the youngest footballer to reach 100 appearances in the competition. The Frenchman achieved the landmark aged 27 years and 298 days, making him the fifth player from France to record a century of Champions League matches. He reached the total on Wednesday at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico, where Real Madrid played Roma. Mbappe scored the equaliser to make it 1-1 before Los Blancos secured a 4-3 victory in the Italian capital. Lionel Messi had previously held the age record, having played his 100th Champions League game against Roma on September 16, 2015, when he was 28 years and 84 days old. Mbappe first appeared in the tournament for Monaco in September 2016, shortly after turning 17.
