Petrol prices at Dangote Refinery-backed MRS filling stations in Abuja have fallen by N25 per litre, providing some relief to motorists and potentially setting the stage for wider reductions across the capital’s fuel market. A market check on Monday found that MRS outlets had cut their pump price to N1,370 per litre from N1,395.
The revised rate is already in effect at MRS stations in Katampe and on the Lugbe Expressway. The move follows Dangote Refinery’s decision a week earlier to lower its gantry petrol price to N1,325 per litre from N1,350. Petrol is now retailing at between N1,370 and N1,450 per litre in Abuja and surrounding areas. MRS’s reduction may prompt other retailers to follow, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, or NNPCL, which sources petrol from the Dangote refinery.
