
Nigeria’s naira finished the week slightly stronger against the US dollar in the official foreign-exchange window. Central Bank of Nigeria data put the closing rate at N1,331.19 to the dollar on Friday, up from N1,332.10 on Thursday, representing a day-on-day gain of N0.91.
In the parallel market, however, the currency was steady at N1,385 per dollar on Friday, unchanged from the preceding session.
Over the week, the naira posted a mixed performance, alternating between advances and declines across the country’s currency markets. Nigeria’s external reserves stood at $55.07 billion as of October 8, 2026. In its October Nigeria Development Update, the World Bank said the naira had performed better than other currencies during the first quarter of 2026.
