Nigeria’s naira continued to firm against the US dollar on Friday, closing the week with a modest gain in the official foreign-exchange window despite a second straight daily fall in the nation’s external reserves.
Central Bank of Nigeria figures put the official exchange rate at N1,346.26 per dollar on Friday, compared with N1,346.91 on Thursday. The movement represents a day-on-day appreciation of N0.65 for the local currency.
Trading in the parallel market was unchanged, with the naira quoted at N1,390 to the dollar, matching Thursday’s rate.
The currency has posted substantial gains over the latest five trading sessions, reversing part of the weakness seen during the previous week. The advance came even as Nigeria’s foreign reserves slipped for a second consecutive day, reaching $55.24 billion as of October 29, 2026.
