Naira Gains at Official Window as Parallel-Market Rate Slips to N1,430/$

The naira strengthened at Nigeria’s official foreign-exchange window on Wednesday, trading at N1,360.58 per US dollar compared with N1,364.89 a day earlier, Central Bank of Nigeria figures showed. The N4.31 daily gain reversed the previous session’s decline. In the parallel market, however, the currency weakened marginally to N1,430 per dollar from N1,429 on Tuesday. The contrasting movements came as Nigeria’s foreign-exchange reserves climbed further to $52.17 billion as of August 11, 2026. On Tuesday, the naira had moved in the opposite direction across the two markets, losing value officially while recording a small gain in the parallel segment.
