The naira strengthened against the US dollar at Nigeria’s official foreign-exchange market on Thursday, reversing the previous day’s decline. Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the currency trading at N1,347.63 per dollar, compared with N1,350.41 on Wednesday, representing a daily gain of N2.78.

In the parallel market, however, the naira was unchanged at N1,405 per dollar, matching Wednesday’s rate. The move came as Nigeria’s foreign-exchange reserves climbed further to $52.66 billion as of August 19, 2026.
