Naira Gains N5.55 to N1,360.14 at Official Dollar Exchange Window

The naira opened the week stronger at Nigeria’s official foreign-exchange window, gaining N5.55 against the US dollar. Central Bank of Nigeria figures put the currency at N1,360.14 per dollar on Monday, compared with N1,365.69 at the end of trading on the preceding Friday.

Trading outside the official market showed no movement, with the naira holding at N1,430 per dollar on Monday, matching its level at last week’s close. Central bank figures dated August 7, 2026, also placed Nigeria’s foreign-exchange reserves at $52.06 billion. The improvement at the official window followed a weaker Friday, when the naira lost ground against the dollar across both official and parallel-market channels.
