The naira edged higher against the dollar on Friday at the official foreign-exchange window, breaking a three-session losing run, while its parallel-market value held steady.
Official market records marginal gain
Figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the currency closing at N1,331.20 per dollar, compared with N1,331.28 on Thursday. The move represented a daily improvement of N0.08.
Parallel rate remains unchanged
Trading outside the official market produced no movement. The naira continued to exchange at N1,392 to the dollar on Friday, matching Thursday’s black-market rate.
Reserves and weekly performance
The contrasting movements came as Nigeria’s external reserves reached $54.69 billion on September 17, 2026, based on central-bank data.
Despite Friday’s modest recovery, the naira suffered more declines than advances at the official foreign-exchange market during the week under review.
