The Nigerian naira weakened marginally against the US dollar in official trading on Wednesday, slipping to N1,329.86 per dollar from N1,329.15 a day earlier, data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed. The move represented a day-on-day loss of N0.71. In the parallel market, however, the currency held steady at N1,390 to the dollar, unchanged since Monday. Nigeria’s external reserves were valued at $54.61 billion on September 14, 2026. The latest decline followed the naira’s first official-market fall against the dollar on Tuesday and came after the US Federal Reserve increased interest rates by 25 basis points, its first such hike since 2023.
