Naira Slips to N1,330.10 per Dollar as Forex Trading Resumes After Holiday

The naira weakened slightly against the US dollar when official foreign-exchange trading resumed after Nigeria’s Independence Day break. Central Bank of Nigeria figures showed the currency closing at N1,330.10 per dollar on Friday, compared with N1,329.16 on Wednesday, the last session before the October 1 holiday. The move represented a N0.94 decline and left the naira ending the week lower in the official market. In the parallel market, the currency changed hands at N1,370 to the dollar on Friday. Nigeria’s foreign-exchange reserves were unchanged at $54.93 billion as of September 30, 2026. The latest decline followed an official-market gain by the naira before the holiday.
