Naira Slips to N1,331.69 per Dollar in Official Market

The naira weakened slightly against the US dollar in Nigeria’s official foreign-exchange market on Monday, extending the negative trend that closed the previous week. Central Bank of Nigeria figures put the currency at N1,331.69 per dollar, compared with N1,330.10 at the end of last week, representing a decline of N1.59. Trading in the parallel market was unchanged, with the naira holding at N1,370 to the dollar, the same level recorded on Friday. The divergent movements came as Nigeria’s external reserves reached $54.95 billion as of October 2, 2026. The currency had also fallen against the dollar on Friday, ending last week weaker.
