The naira lost further ground against the US dollar in Nigeria’s official foreign-exchange market on Thursday, slipping to N1,332.10 from N1,331.77 a day earlier. The move represented a N0.33 decline in the currency’s value over the session. Trading in the parallel market was steadier, with the naira holding at N1,385 per dollar, unchanged from Wednesday.
The divergent market performance came as Nigeria’s external reserves continued to rise, reaching $55.05 billion on October 7, 2026. The naira had weakened in both the official and parallel markets on Wednesday.
