
The naira recovered against the US dollar when foreign-exchange trading restarted after the Eid-ul-Mawlid holiday. Central Bank of Nigeria figures put the currency at N1,343.59 per dollar on Wednesday, compared with N1,346.98 on Monday, representing a N3.39 improvement over the two sessions in the official market. The naira also advanced by N3 in the parallel market, ending Wednesday at N1,407 to the dollar. The gains came as Nigeria’s foreign-exchange reserves continued to climb, reaching $53.11 billion on August 24, 2026. The currency had previously closed Monday’s session weaker before Tuesday’s public holiday.
