
The naira gained N11.12 against the US dollar over the past week in Nigeria’s official foreign-exchange market, extending its recent improvement. Central Bank of Nigeria data showed the currency closing at N1,346.49 per dollar on Friday, compared with N1,347.63 on Thursday. That amounted to a one-day rise of N1.14, while the weekly advance reached N11.12.
In the parallel market, the naira held steady at N1,405 to the dollar on Friday, matching Thursday’s level. The latest exchange-rate movements came as Nigeria’s foreign-exchange reserves reached $52.66 billion on August 19, 2026, CBN figures showed.
