The naira gained further ground against the US dollar on Tuesday, extending its advance across Nigeria’s foreign-exchange market.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria put the currency at N1,327.78 per dollar, compared with N1,329.80 on Monday. The move represented a daily appreciation of N2.02.
Trading outside the official market also showed a modest improvement. The naira strengthened by N1 to N1,389 per dollar at the black-market rate, up from N1,390 the previous day.
Central bank figures showed that Nigeria’s external reserves were about $55 billion on Monday, September 21, 2026.
The currency movements came after the Monetary Policy Committee, the central bank’s top body for monetary-policy decisions, reduced the interest rate to 23 per cent.
