
The Nigerian naira held its gains on Friday, continuing to rise versus the US dollar in both the official foreign exchange window and the parallel market, helping the currency finish the week on a firmer footing.
Central Bank of Nigeria figures showed the naira strengthened to N1,362.09 per dollar on Friday, compared with N1,367.76 per dollar the day before. That represents a day-to-day appreciation of N5.67 against the dollar.
In the parallel market, the naira also improved. A Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja said the currency edged up by N10 to N1,410 per dollar on Friday, from N1,420 previously.
Looking beyond the daily move, the currency’s performance was also stronger on a week-on-week basis. The naira gained N18.19 in the official market and N15 in the parallel market versus the dollar.
The currency’s continued appreciation has unfolded alongside foreign reserve levels of $52.02 billion, reported as of July 23, 2026.
