Nigeria’s diesel retail price has crossed N2,000 per litre, adding to operating costs for businesses and transport users as fuel suppliers adjust prices across the downstream market.
Diesel prices rise across Abuja
- On Friday, diesel sold for approximately N2,000 to N2,020 per litre at AA Rano, Empire Energy, Ranoil and other filling stations in Abuja and nearby areas.
- The new range represents an increase of about N220 to N300 per litre from the previous N1,700-N1,800 level, with the exact rise varying by outlet and location.
- The retail adjustment followed a depot-price increase to N1,900 per litre. Suppliers including Ranoil Delta, Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company, NIPCO Warri, Prudent Oghara and Zamson introduced the higher depot rates.
- Earlier, Dangote Refinery lifted its gantry price for diesel by N100 to N1,850 per litre after crude oil climbed above $95 a barrel.
- By Friday, however, international oil prices had eased slightly. Brent crude was quoted at $94.74 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $90.34.
