Nigeria’s Flamingos have secured a place in the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after edging Venezuela 1-0 in Sale, Morocco, setting up a meeting with Brazil for a berth in the final.
Nigeria Seal Narrow Quarter-Final Win
The Akeem Busari-coached side overcame Venezuela on Sunday through a late spot-kick converted by Azeezat Oduntan. Her penalty proved the only goal of a tightly contested quarter-final.

Brazil Await in Semi-Final
The victory means Nigeria will face Brazil for a place in the World Cup final. Brazil reached the semi-finals after recovering from an early setback to beat China 2-1 in an earlier match.
Nigeria are appearing in the semi-finals of the competition for only the second time. During their previous run to this stage, in 2022, the Flamingos went on to claim the bronze medal.
Other Last-Four Match
The remaining semi-final will pit North Korea against Japan, completing the line-up for the final-four fixtures at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
