Nigerian Army personnel from the 3 Brigade, supported by other security forces and local hunters, rescued a kidnapping victim and killed two suspected abductors during an operation linked to a ransom handover in Kano State.
The intervention occurred at about 11:19 p.m. on October 16, 2026, in Yan Taburmi village within the Falgore Forest area. The victim’s relatives had reportedly travelled to the location to provide a ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
Security personnel set an ambush near the planned exchange point, confronting the suspected gang as the payment was being made. Two alleged kidnappers were killed in the operation, while other members of the group escaped deeper into the forest.
A subsequent search recovered N10 million believed to be the ransom funds supplied by the victim’s family. The rescued person and the recovered cash were transferred to police officers at the Falgore Division, where further inquiries are under way.
