Petrol prices have fallen again at MRS stations supported by Dangote Refinery and at several other outlets in Nigeria, extending a recent round of pump-price reductions in Abuja and surrounding areas.
Key takeaways
- MRS stations in Abuja cut petrol prices to N1,210 per litre from N1,260.
- AA Rano and nearby retailers along Kubwa Expressway lowered their rates by N25 to about N1,275 per litre.
- The latest changes follow Dangote Refinery’s reduction in petrol and Automotive Gas Oil prices last week.
- MRS and other retailers had already reduced pump prices by N25 to N45 per litre eight days earlier.
Fresh reductions in Abuja
Checks of the market on Monday showed that MRS outlets in Abuja and nearby locations were selling petrol at N1,210 per litre, compared with the previous price of N1,260. The adjustment represents a N50 reduction for each litre.
AA Rano stations and other fuel retailers situated along Abuja’s Kubwa Expressway also lowered their pump rates on Monday. Their prices dropped by N25 per litre to approximately N1,275.
Refinery price cuts drive market response
The latest reductions followed Dangote Refinery’s announcement last week that it would bring down the prices of petrol and Automotive Gas Oil, commonly known as AGO or diesel.
The market had seen a further round of cuts eight days earlier, when MRS and other filling-station operators reduced petrol prices by between N25 and N45 per litre.
