Petrol prices at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) retail stations in Abuja and nearby areas have fallen to N1,299 per litre from N1,335.
Quick facts
- NNPCL cut its pump price by N36 per litre.
- The revised price applies at outlets in Lugbe, Kubwa Expressway and Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, as well as surrounding areas.
- MRS stations backed by Dangote Refinery reduced petrol by N40 two days earlier, bringing their price to N1,265 per litre.
- Other stations had been selling petrol at roughly N1,300 to N1,310 per litre.
The new NNPCL rate has been introduced across its stations in the affected parts of the Federal Capital Territory. The reduction brings the state-owned company’s retail price closer to levels offered by competing operators.
MRS filling stations supported by Dangote Refinery had lowered their own price to N1,265 per litre two days before the NNPCL adjustment. That move increased pressure on other fuel retailers, which had been charging between N1,300 and N1,310 per litre, to follow with cuts.
