The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has raised the retail price of Premium Motor Spirit, widely called petrol, with prices at most of its stations in Abuja and surrounding areas now ranging from N1,395 to N1,430 per litre. The increase, observed on Tuesday across NNPCL outlets, represents an adjustment of N50 to N85 per litre.
The revised rates were in effect at stations around Airport Junction, Gwarinpa, Kubwa Expressway and Wuse Zone 4, as well as in other parts of the Federal Capital Territory and its outskirts. The move followed a separate increase by MRS filling stations, which lifted its petrol price to N1,395 per litre after Dangote Refinery raised its gantry price to N1,265 per litre. The latest domestic price changes came as international crude benchmarks advanced: Brent rose to $107 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate reached $103 after strikes involving Iran and the United States took a severe turn last week. Iran had earlier attacked Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline.
