The Nigeria Premier Football League has formally recognised Bendel Insurance’s complaint over a disputed Rangers goal in their rescheduled Matchday 9 meeting, moving the matter to the Nigeria Football Federation’s Referees Appointment Committee for consideration.
The league confirmed on Friday in a brief post on X that it had received the protest. Bendel Insurance argued that Rangers’ decisive goal was scored while the crossbar had been dislodged, a situation the club said should have forced the referee to halt the match before play continued.
Having examined video footage of the incident, the NPFL found merit in Bendel Insurance’s objection. However, it did not issue a final ruling itself, instead submitting the case to the NFF Referees Appointment Committee for further assessment.
The committee is expected to relay its decision on the protest to the NPFL once its review has been completed.
