Mudashir Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has endorsed the All Progressives Congress candidate for governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, saying the current deputy governor has the capacity to take over from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and meet the state’s economic and social priorities.
Hamzat unveils manifesto in Lagos
Obasa spoke to journalists during Hamzat’s official manifesto launch, held on Friday at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, Lagos. The venue was previously known as the National Arts Theatre.
Hamzat, who presently serves as Lagos State’s deputy governor, had initially sought the governorship in 2019. He later accepted the role of running mate to Sanwo-Olu after being persuaded to step aside from his own bid.
Assembly speaker cites experience and credentials
The Assembly Speaker said Hamzat was well placed to fulfil the commitments set out in his campaign programme, pointing to his academic qualifications as well as his record in both corporate and public-sector positions.
- Hamzat has experience across private-sector and government roles.
- His educational background was presented as a foundation for effective leadership.
- Obasa said the APC candidate has the ability to carry out the promises made in his manifesto.
“He possesses the competence, the character and, above all, the resolve needed to reshape Lagos State’s socio-economic story,” Obasa said.
