Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha says he remains the undisputed leading figure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, rejecting competing assertions over control of the party’s organisation.
Speaking on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, Okorocha said no rival could displace him from his position within the Imo chapter of the APC.
Quick facts
- Okorocha says he remains Imo State’s dominant APC leader.
- He argues that he created the party’s structure in the state from the ground up.
- The former governor accused allies of Governor Hope Uzodimma of seeking control through propaganda.
- He said the passage of time would determine who truly commands the Imo APC.
The former governor said he established the APC in Imo through personal effort and sacrifice, and maintained that he continues to enjoy public support despite what he described as attempts to marginalise him and remove his political legacy.
He dismissed those presenting themselves as controllers of the party’s state structure, saying their claims should not be taken seriously. In his view, the authentic APC machinery in Imo remains under his influence.
“I am still the foremost APC personality in Imo State. No one can replace me. I built this party with my blood and sweat, and the people remain with me,” Okorocha said.
Okorocha alleged that supporters of Governor Hope Uzodimma were attempting to seize the party structure by using propaganda. He said APC members in Imo understood who the party’s real leader was.
He added that competing claims from rival camps did not concern him, saying events over time would reveal who genuinely controls the APC in Imo State.
