Osun Amotekun Corps has taken five people into custody over separate allegations involving theft, conspiracy, commercial burglary and fraud in locations across Osun State.
The suspects are Adebisi Olalere, 30; Isiaka Yinusa, 33; Farika Azeez, 30; Daniel Moses, 30; and Monday Lawrence, 30.
Arrests follow public complaints
- The arrests were made on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after complaints were received about the suspects’ alleged activities.
- Amotekun operatives traced and detained the individuals at various sites, including alleged hideouts and locations linked to the reported offences.
- Corps Commander Adekunle Isaac Omoyele said initial inquiries had led some suspects to make admissions, while others had reportedly named additional people believed to be connected to the cases.
Allegations in Gbongan and Modakeke
Olalere, described as a herbal practitioner from Gbongan, is accused of working with armed robbery suspects and providing traditional charms allegedly intended to support criminal operations.
He was detained with Yinusa, also a Gbongan resident, in relation to the alleged break-in at a shop in the town. Yinusa had previously been imprisoned after a conviction for stealing a motorcycle. Both Olalere and Yinusa allegedly acknowledged their involvement during the preliminary investigation.
In another case, Azeez of Modakeke was arrested over the alleged stealing of a gas cylinder and other property in the community. He had earlier been convicted and jailed for a comparable offence, and is alleged to have admitted involvement in the latest case while being questioned.
Iron rods allegedly sold as scrap
Moses and Lawrence, both Benue State natives living in Ipinrindo in Atakumosa East Local Government Area, were arrested over the alleged removal of iron rods from the local government secretariat.
Moses is alleged to have admitted taking part in the theft. The rods were estimated to have a value of between N50,000 and N100,000, but were allegedly sold to scrap merchants for between N4,000 and N5,000.
Omoyele appealed to Osun residents to give security agencies reliable information promptly, saying public cooperation is important in preventing offences and responding to emerging security risks in the state.
All five suspects have been transferred to the relevant authorities for additional investigation and possible prosecution.
