Osun State’s Amotekun security corps has removed an officer, Awopeju Cornelious Sanjo, from its ranks over alleged serious misconduct, saying the action was taken under public-service rules governing the agency.
Sanjo, whose service number is OSNA/2021/00018, was dismissed after an internal disciplinary hearing held on Monday, October 26, 2026. The decision was announced on Tuesday by the corps’ Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass.
During the hearing, the command’s Ambassador Provost, retired CSP Joshua Omogbehin, formally laid out the accusations against Sanjo. The officer admitted the allegations during the process, after which the command concluded that dismissal was warranted under the applicable regulations.
As part of his exit from the organisation, Sanjo has been instructed to hand over every Amotekun uniform, piece of equipment and other official property still in his possession.
Corps Commander Adekunle Isaac Omoyele said the decision reflected the agency’s emphasis on professional standards, accountability and discipline among its personnel. He said the corps would not permit misconduct, indiscipline or any conduct that could undermine the standing of the security organisation.
All serving officers must meet high behavioural standards and carry out their responsibilities within the rules governing the corps, Omoyele said. He urged personnel to remain alert, disciplined and dedicated to their assignments, adding that any officer found responsible for grave misconduct would face the appropriate sanctions.
Omoyele also asked residents to note that Sanjo is no longer an operative of the Osun Amotekun Corps. Members of the public should neither recognise him nor introduce him as a serving officer, as he no longer has any official authority or status to represent the organisation.
The command said it remains focused on accountability, professional conduct and the protection of lives and property throughout Osun State, stressing that all personnel are required to act in line with the agency’s regulations and operational objectives.
