In a message posted on X on Tuesday, Obi said he was deeply saddened by Uduaghan’s death and remembered the former governor’s warm treatment of him during their dealings in government.
-
“Farewell, Uduaghan,” Obi said, adding that the former Delta State governor had regarded him as a younger brother.
-
Obi recalled their constructive working relationship while both were in public office, particularly their joint advocacy for the contract to build the Second Niger Bridge.
-
He said they had worked together “as brothers” to support the project because of its value for national cohesion, trade and the economic advancement of Nigeria’s South-East and South-South regions.
-
Obi said he was pleased that their campaign had eventually succeeded and that the Second Niger Bridge was completed, describing it as evidence of how cooperation can advance national development.
-
He said Uduaghan’s death represented a loss not only for his family and Delta State, but also for Nigeria as a whole.
Obi extended his condolences to Uduaghan’s relatives, the Delta State government and its people, and prayed that God would grant the former governor eternal rest while comforting those mourning him.
