Planned Abuja Power Cut to Hit Wuse, CBD, Jabi and Other Areas

Parts of Abuja will experience a planned electricity outage on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out preventive work at the Central Area GIS 132/33kV Transmission Substation. The exercise will prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from receiving power for customers across the Central Business District, Wuse Zones 1–7, including Wuse Market, Sheraton Hotel, Jabi, Utako and surrounding areas, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

TCN said its engineers would use the six-hour window to conduct routine preventive inspections on the transformer. The company issued the notice on Wednesday and said the maintenance was intended to support the continued reliability of the transmission facility.
