Troops from Sector 1 of Operation Ensuring Peace in Plateau State have detained a man accused of posing as a member of the security forces, stealing mobile phones and disrupting public order in Jos.
The suspect, identified as Salim Idris, was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on October 25 in the Filin Sukuwa area after security personnel received intelligence concerning alleged criminal activity in Jos Local Government Area.
Troops reportedly tracked Idris and took him into custody while he was wearing military camouflage clothing. Initial questioning indicated that he may have been linked to repeated incidents involving the impersonation of security agencies, phone theft and disturbances in public places.
Idris remains in military custody while investigators carry out further inquiries into the allegations.
