Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy, said the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign event in Kaduna State had embarrassed critics of the president and demonstrated his support in northern Nigeria.
Onanuga cites Kaduna turnout as proof of support
In a post on X, Onanuga said the Kaduna campaign challenged opposition figures whom he described as acting out of “bad belle,” a term referring to resentment or ill will.
- He said opponents had promoted what he called a false claim that Tinubu would not be welcomed anywhere in the North.
- Onanuga described the opening of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna as an “unforgettable” occasion.
- He argued that the public display of support at the event had disproved the criticism directed at the president.
“The show of support bothers the ‘bad belle’ ADC opposition leaders, who spread the false idea that President Tinubu wouldn’t be welcome in any part of northern Nigeria,” Onanuga said.
Governor praised as event draws mixed response
Onanuga said Kaduna had put those critics to shame and thanked Governor Uba Sani for what he called a colourful display at the rally.
The APC campaign event, held in Kaduna over the weekend, nevertheless prompted divided reactions among Nigerians. Some people alleged that members of the crowd had been paid to attend the campaign gathering.
