PromiseLand to Launch ProTaxi Electric Ride-Hailing Service in Nigeria on October 1

Nigeria’s PromiseLand Innovations Limited plans to introduce ProTaxi on October 1, 2026, as the country celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary. The new e-hailing service is intended to give drivers and passengers access to an alternative transport model based on rechargeable electric vehicles.

ProTaxi is expected to begin operations on October 1, using electric mobility to support lower-cost travel, reduce reliance on traditional fuel and open additional income opportunities for Nigerians. Its launch comes as global energy markets continue to evolve and higher transport costs put pressure on drivers, commercial operators and commuters nationwide.

The technology-based service will match passengers with drivers through a digital booking platform. Alongside ride-hailing services, it will promote greater use of electric vehicles within Nigeria’s transport industry. Operations are scheduled to start in Abuja, with expansion to other Nigerian locations planned later.

PromiseLand Innovations’ chief executive, Ambassador Lawrence Oloche, previously disclosed plans to place 1,000 new electric vehicles with families through the ProTaxi programme. The company says the scheme will give qualified Nigerians, including both men and women who are able to drive, a route into the developing electric-mobility industry.

People interested in becoming drivers will need to register and undergo the company’s screening, verification and onboarding procedures. The programme is expected to support job creation by giving participating drivers access to vehicles and a digital service through which they can generate earnings.

By relying on rechargeable energy rather than petrol or other conventional fuels, ProTaxi could help lower fuel-related running costs for drivers. Passengers will be able to request journeys, view trip details and complete payments through a mobile application available for Android and iPhone devices.

The application is also expected to include checks on driver identities, live journey monitoring, passenger ratings and reviews, and location-sharing tools. These functions are intended to increase service visibility and strengthen passenger security.

Drivers will be offered the ability to set flexible working hours, enabling them to control when they are available and earn through the platform according to their schedules.

PromiseLand Innovations is presenting ProTaxi as part of a wider strategy focused on technology-led services and environmentally sustainable transport. The company, which also operates in property development through PromiseLand Estate, is extending its business interests into mobility and digital ride-hailing.

Launching on Nigeria’s Independence Day, ProTaxi is set to enter an expanding e-hailing market with an emphasis on electric transport, reasonably priced mobility and broader economic prospects for drivers. In the longer term, PromiseLand Innovations aims to take the service beyond Nigeria and support cleaner transport adoption across Africa.
