Turkish football commentator Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has said Galatasaray’s Super Lig rivals may need Victor Osimhen to miss roughly two months through injury if they are to mount a credible title challenge.
Sabuncuoğlu argued that Galatasaray’s dominance is so closely linked to Osimhen’s availability that competitors would require an extended period without the forward to have a realistic route to the championship.
- “For another club to win this league instead of Galatasaray, they would need to hope that Osimhen is injured and absent from Galatasaray for two months,” Sabuncuoğlu said in remarks carried by Krampon Sports.
- He added that only a notably long spell in which Galatasaray are without Osimhen could materially change the title race.
- Galatasaray currently lead the Turkish Super Lig standings, having collected 25 points from 10 games.
- The club has won the domestic title in each of the past two seasons since Osimhen joined.
